I had a slight accident :(

Postby Chaostime » Sat Feb 06, 2010 7:50 pm

I was coming home from work last tuesday my back end lost grip on the wet road as I was turning into Hilldrop Road :(. Sadly, because of this my car and a fence had a suprise meeting and I've been left with a few nasty scratches on the bumper and passenger side door. I could use a new reg plate and mounting plinth too.

Does anyone know of any resonable places to get my bumper and door panel resprayed? Also, where would I source a new plinth for a reg plate?

Thanks in advance :)

I would say Panel Craft in Rushden. I know others have had work done there as I have seen their cars. Tell him I sent you, I bowow his trailer a lot as does Michael. 8)

Doh!

Use it as an excuse to ditch the number plate plinth and get a stick on plate

He is mobile and will do the work at your house, if your stuck and dont realy have anywhere dry your welcome to have him do it in my garage we are only in west hunsbury but he will be mucho cheaper than taking it to a bodyshop and his work is second to none.

Thank hotspa, i'll might take you up on that :)

I need to get all the muck off the bumper first and really survey the damage, but there's definately atleast one scratch that needs attention.

We use Paul at Panelcraft a lot at work, and Martin uses him for his MX5, call him on 01933 410437, tell him you are in the MX5 owners club and he will give you a discount, as he will to all members.

So my car was due its 81k service and I took it to Northampton Mazda (By the way, don't elect to wait there for the service to be completed - it's really boring!) while it was there I got them to replace the plinth and number plates, so thanks alot for the offer theladd but I guess I wont be needing your spare plinth now :P

While I was there I wanted them to replace my rear tyres, so they sourced some resonable Dunlops for me. Turns out their dealer had promised them to us, but then someone else sold them a bit later on, so they replaced them with some nice Pirellis for the same price (would have been about £30 extra per tyre otherwise :O )

All in all, the total for the work was £415 inc service at £195.

I do still need to get my shell resprayed so i'm off to make a few calls!

Hi Chaostime,
I wouldn't normally say this as you already have the tyres, but due to the thread title and what happened I would advise that if they are Pirrelli 6000's MX-5 don't generally like them as they work better on heavier cars.

Paul at Panelcraft in Rushden does all the bodywork on Barbara's MX5's and mine. Highly recommended.
